Intimate Partner Violence and Brain Injury: Experiential outcomes from a direct services program

The Cridge Centre for the Family has been serving vulnerable women impacted by intimate partner violence (IPV) and supporting survivors of traumatic brain injury for 30 years. With combined expertise and a unique opportunity, The Cridge Centre is dedicated to addressing the issues and needs of women impacted by both IPV and BI using a trauma-informed lens. Every year, most of the estimated 200,000 Canadian women who have received an IPV-related BI are living undiagnosed and unsupported in our community. This presentation shares the alarming statistics, presents the challenges around assessment and diagnosis of BI in IPV situations, provides practical approaches for implementing BI strategies into IPV work, and shares experiential outcomes from our innovative direct services program.
