Toxic brain injury: A hidden epidemic within the drug toxicity crisis
In this discussion, we will take an overview of the drug toxicity crisis as it relates to brain injury. We will touch on hypoxic/anoxic injury, fentanyl and proposed excitotoxic mechanism, and leukoencephalopathy as mechanisms of brain injury and non-fatal overdose events. Consideration will also be given to cumulative nonfatal overdoses.
