Call for Abstracts & Workshop Proposals

Brain Injury Canada strives to create platforms to bring people together in the interest of education, information and awareness of brain injury. Our conference is designed for health care professionals and those interested in the ever-changing world of brain injury and treatment. We are looking for dynamic speakers, engaging presentations and valuable resources for the health care and service provider community to be a part of our conference on May 17th & 18th, 2023.

Areas of interest for presentations include:

  • Innovations in care/treatment/rehabilitation.
  • Housing
  • Homelessness
  • Mental health
  • Lived experience

  • BIPOC
  • Managing behaviour
  • Self-care
  • Addressing inequalities
  • Supporting families

All presentations will be 30 minutes in length and pre-recorded with a member of our conference team. Presenters will attend live on the conference day for a 10-minute Q&A period after their presentation. All presenters must have a slide presentation and we ask presenters to not include any commercialization or marketing of products and/or services.

Submission deadline for abstracts is December 9, 2022. Presenters who are chosen for the conference will be notified in January 2023.

Please note: We do not provide speaker fees or honourariums.

Your abstracts are a brief overview of your presentation which include your intended audience, the format of your presentation, and the key takeaways that your intended audience will receive.

Review

Our conference committee will review all submissions and contact you directly by mid-December should your abstract be accepted.

New this year – Workshops

May 16, 2023

The application period for workshops has now closed. Thank you for your submissions.

We will be offering three optional workshops for conference attendees on May 16, 2023. We are looking for individuals who would like to run these workshops and provide interactive opportunities to focus more in-depth on a particular topic related to brain injury, while sharing your expertise and ideas with colleagues helping to build skills, expertise, and resources for attendees across Canada.

The workshop format would be as follows:

  • 1.5 hour interactive workshop hosted by Brain Injury Canada live on Zoom
  • Maximum 40 – 50 attendees
  • Must be targeted to health care and health service professionals
  • The workshop content is evidence-based and free of marketing programs and services
  • There is a focus on participant engagement throughout the session
  • We strongly encourage submissions that include people with lived experience as co-presenters.

The submission deadline for workshop proposals is December 9th, 2022. Those who are accepted will be notified in January 2023.
