Biography

Kyla Jamieson (she/her) is a disabled poet, educator, access worker, and advocate. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia and is the author of Kind of Animal (2019) and Body Count (2020), poetry collections that give language to her invisible and identity-shifting experience of concussion and chronic illness. Body Count was named one of CBC’s Best Poetry Books of 2020 and was shortlisted for the Pat Lowther Memorial Award. Born and raised in Squamish and North Vancouver, Kyla now lives and relies on the traditional unceded territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, where she dreams of systemic change, care-full futures, and disabled joy.
